The Mythgard London Speculative Fiction Symposium, aka LondonMoot, is a one-day series of talks and discussion on literature analysis in the fields of fantasy, science fiction and medieval studies. It is part of a series of regional "moots" affiliated with Mythmoot, an annual multi-day symposium held by Signum University in the USA.

A “moot” refers to a meeting or legislative assembly, but also the place in which that meeting is held. It’s from the Old English -mot, which could be appended to the end of a word, as in “LondonMoot.” It was made famous by the “Entmoots” of the tree-shepherding Ents in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

Recent related moots:
 - Mythmoot IV, 4-Jun-2017, Virginia, USA
 - Upper MidWest Regional Moot, Oct-2017, Waterloo, Iowa, USA

Upcoming related moots:
 - Texmoot, 13-Jan-2018, Texas, USA
 - Mythmoot V, 21-Jun-2018, Virginia, USA

Note that this event is not affiliated with the excellent Oxonmoot, an annual Tolkien appreciation event run by The Tolkien Society in Oxford.
